Job description
Accountant duties include:
1. General Accounting (Zoho Books):
- Manage and maintain the general ledger, chart of accounts, and day-to-day bookkeeping
- Create and manage customer invoices, vendor bills, credit notes, and recurring transactions
- Handle accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), bank feeds, and reconciliations
- Track inventory, projects, and time billing (if applicable)
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports and statements
- Maintain audit-ready books and ensure accurate financial records
2. Expense Management (Zoho Expense):
- Set up and manage Zoho Expense for employees and departments
- Review, categorize, and approve employee expense claims
- Enforce company expense policies and ensure compliance
- Integrate expense reports into accounting workflows in Zoho Books
- Generate expense analytics for management insights
3. Payroll Management (Payroll):
- Administer payroll using Zoho, ensuring accurate salary calculations and tax deductions
- Maintain employee compensation records and statutory compliance
- Generate payslips, payroll reports, and file returns on time
- Manage reimbursements, bonuses, and final settlements through Zoho
- Liaise with HR to onboard/offboard employees in the payroll system
4. Compliance & Reporting:
- Ensure timely tax filings (VAT, payroll taxes)
- Prepare reports for management, external auditors, and regulatory bodies
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting using Zoho’s reporting tools
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum of 3+ years of accounting experience, with 2+ years using Zoho Books, Zoho Expense, and Zoho Payroll
- Solid understanding of accounting principles, statutory compliance, and payroll processes
- Proficiency in cloud-based accounting and finance tools
- Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to work independently
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with the broader Zoho ecosystem
- Knowledge of automation and workflow customization within Zoho
- Prior experience in remote, freelance, or digital-first business environments
- Familiarity with multi-currency, project-based, or recurring billing models
