Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced Accountant based in the UAE with strong expertise in Zoho Books, UAE Corporate Tax, VAT, monthly financial closing, and accounts receivable management. The ideal candidate holds a valid UAE driving license and owns a car to conduct periodic client visits for collections/reconciliations. You will ensure accurate, timely books, compliance with UAE tax regulations, and healthy cashflow through disciplined AR follow-up aligned with contractual payment terms.
Key Responsibilities
1) General Accounting & Month-End Close
- Own the monthly close calendar; complete close by the 3rd working day after month-end/ the 5th working day after month-end including accruals, prepayments, provisions, and reconciliations.
- Prepare and post JVs for revenue recognition, deferrals, amortizations, and cost allocations.
- Perform bank, AR, AP, payroll, and intercompany reconciliations; investigate and resolve variances.
- Maintain fixed asset register and run depreciation; manage asset additions/disposals.
- Ensure books comply with IFRS and internal policies/DoA (delegation of authority).
- Experience in SAAS monthly billing
2) Zoho Books Ownership
- Configure and maintain Zoho Books (chart of accounts, tax setup, workflows, approval rules, custom fields, and automation).
- Process sales invoices/credit notes; reconcile bank feeds; manage payment gateways as applicable.
- Build custom reports and dashboards (aging, DSO, revenue/margin, taxes).
- Liaise with Zoho support/partners to optimize usage and integrate with other business apps (e.g., CRM, inventory).
3) UAE VAT & Corporate Tax Compliance
- Prepare UAE VAT returns: review tax codes, zero-rated/exempt supplies, reverse charge, and reconciliation to GL.
- Maintain appropriate tax documentation (TRNs, tax invoices, tax credit notes, export evidence).
- Support UAE Corporate Tax computations: book tax adjustments, track temporary differences, maintain supporting schedules, and assist external advisors during filing.
- Monitor regulatory updates; ensure compliance with FTA requirements, record retention, and audit readiness.
4) Accounts Receivable & Collections
- Monitor AR aging and DSO; enforce client payment terms and credit limits.
- Issue accurate and timely invoices and statements of account; reconcile with client POs, GRNs, and service acceptance.
- Execute a structured collections cadence (calls/emails/visits) and log actions in Zoho Books/CRM.
- Conduct on-site meetings with customers (requires valid UAE license & own car); secure PDCs/TTs per policy.
- Escalate chronic overdues and recommend credit holds, payment plans, or legal escalation per DoA.
5) Reporting & Audit
- Help deliver monthly management packs: P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, KPI commentary (revenue, margin, DSO, collections).
- Support statutory audit and tax audits with reconciliations and schedules; address auditor queries promptly.
- Maintain internal controls and documentation (SOPs, checklists) to ensure audit-ready books.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance; professional certification (ACCA/CPA/CMA) preferred.
- 3–5+ years accounting experience in the UAE, including VAT filings and month-end close.
- Advanced proficiency in Zoho Books (workflows, custom reports, automation, bank feeds).
- Demonstrated success reducing DSO and collecting AR against contractual payment terms.
- Solid knowledge of IFRS, UAE VAT, and UAE Corporate Tax concepts.
Must-Haves
- Valid UAE driving license and own car; willingness to travel within the UAE for client collections/meetings.
- Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, reconciliations).
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English; Arabic a plus.
- High ownership, integrity, and attention to detail; ability to work to tight deadlines.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with Zoho CRM/Inventory or integrations to Zoho Books.
- Exposure to hospitality/telecoms/systems integrator environments (project-based billing, milestones).
- Familiarity with Power BI or data visualization for finance reporting.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Month-end close completed by the 3rd working day after month-end/the 5th working day after month-end with zero material post-close adjustments.
- AR DSO within target; % of overdue >30/60/90 days within thresholds.
- Cash collections vs. plan; dispute-resolution turnaround time.
- VAT & Corporate Tax filings on time with nil penalties.
- Reconciliation completeness and audit points closure rate.
Working Conditions
- On-site role in [Dubai], UAE, with regular external client visits.
- Standard workweek [e.g., Mon–Fri]; additional hours during month-end and audits as required.
- Occasional travel within the GCC as needed.
