The Arabic Sweets Chef is responsible for preparing, baking, and presenting traditional Arabic desserts, pastries, and cakes with authentic taste and modern presentation. The role requires expertise in classic Levantine, Middle Eastern, and Turkish desserts while also being able to innovate new creations that appeal to a diverse clientele.
Key ResponsibilitiesProduction & Preparation
- Prepare, cook, and decorate a wide range of Arabic sweets such as Baklava, Kunafa, Basbousa, Maamoul, Halawet El Jibn, Qatayef, Awamat, Turkish delights, and assorted cakes.
- Develop and maintain recipes that ensure consistency, authenticity, and high quality.
- Control portion sizes, presentation, and taste according to brand standards.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and rotation of ingredients.
- Create seasonal specials and new dessert innovations to keep the menu attractive.
Kitchen Management
- Supervise and train junior pastry staff and assistants.
- Ensure daily mise-en-place is completed and workstations are clean and organized.
- Maintain inventory, order supplies, and control food cost without compromising quality.
- Monitor kitchen equipment, ensuring maintenance and cleanliness.
Quality & Standards
- Uphold high standards of hygiene, safety, and sanitation as per HACCP and local food regulations.
- Ensure presentation and display of sweets in counters and buffets is visually appealing.
- Maintain consistency in flavor and product quality across all outlets (if applicable).
Customer Experience
- Incorporate traditional and modern presentation techniques to attract customers.
- Work with management to design menus, promotional items, and seasonal collections.
- Be responsive to customer feedback and adapt recipes when needed.
Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience as an Arabic Pastry Chef / Oriental Pastry Chef in hotels, restaurants, or confectioneries.
- In-depth knowledge of Middle Eastern, Levantine, and Turkish desserts.
- Creativity to develop fusion desserts blending Arabic flavors with modern pastry trends.
- Strong knowledge of doughs, syrups, fillings, and baking techniques.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen.
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
- Food safety and hygiene certification is preferred.
