Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and reliable AutoCAD Draftsman / Administrative Assistant to support both our technical and office operations within a busy building contracting company. The ideal candidate will produce accurate CAD drawings for construction projects and assist with a range of administrative duties to help ensure the smooth execution of daily business activities.
Key Responsibilities:AutoCAD Drafting Duties:
- Prepare detailed 2D CAD drawings for building layouts, site plans, structural details, and construction documentation based on sketches and specifications from engineers or project managers.
- Revise drawings as required to reflect design changes or construction adjustments.
- Ensure all drawings are compliant with local building codes, project requirements, and company standards.
- Organize and maintain drawing files (digital and hardcopy) for ongoing and completed projects.
- Coordinate with site engineers and project managers to verify drawing accuracy and gather on-site information.
Administrative Support Duties:
- Manage and maintain office filing systems, records, and project documentation.
- Prepare and process documents such as quotations, purchase orders, submittals, and material requests.
- Handle communication with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients when needed.
- Schedule meetings, prepare agendas, and take meeting minutes when required.
- Track project timelines and assist in monitoring project deliverables.
- Order and maintain office and site supplies.
- Provide general administrative support to the project and management teams.
Requirements:
Education & Experience:
- Diploma or certificate in Drafting, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar role within a building contracting or construction company.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D essential; 3D is a plus).
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of Architectural drawings and building plans.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize under pressure.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with additional software such as Revit, SketchUp, or project management tools.
- Knowledge of local construction regulations and building codes.
Working Conditions:
- Office-based with occasional visits to construction sites (if needed).
- Standard working hours, with flexibility for overtime based on project needs.
