Role Summary
You will take full ownership of Cobblestone’s European emissions trading models, spanning EU ETS and UK ETS, transforming complex market data into clear. Your work will guide our participation in the carbon markets and drive commercial value across the wider trading franchise by providing deep insights into supply and demand balances, policy developments, and cross commodity dynamics.

Key Responsibilities
- Shape carbon strategy by owning and refining EU ETS and UK ETS supply and demand models.
- Track policy changes and market drivers to deliver powerful insights and forecasts.
- Build data pipelines and dashboards to provide the desk with real time carbon market intelligence.
- Turn complex analysis into actionable trade ideas and present them to senior stakeholders.
- Collaborate across power, gas, and trading teams to embed carbon insights into broader strategies.
Requirements
Must‑Have
- At least 2 years of experience in carbon market analysis or a related energy sector role such as emissions trading, energy consultancy, or commodity analytics within a trading house, utility, or research firm.
- A bachelor’s degree in economics, Finance, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field. Strong Excel modelling skills and intermediate proficiency in Python and SQL for data analysis and automation.
- In-depth knowledge of EU ETS mechanics, including cap and trade structures, auction processes, and compliance cycles, with a clear grasp of the current policy landscape and market structure.
- A track record of turning complex quantitative analysis into clear, actionable insights for decision makers. Sharp attention to detail, a results-driven mindset, and the resilience to excel in a fast-paced trading environment.
Desirable
- Hands-on experience building dashboards and reports in Tableau, Power BI, or similar tools.
- Familiarity with other emissions trading schemes such as UK ETS or international programmes and understanding of how power and gas markets interact with carbon pricing dynamics.
- Exposure to advanced scripting or data automation using Python libraries, APIs, or building analytical tools to boost efficiency and depth of analysis.
