The Commis – Bakery is responsible for assisting in the preparation, baking, and presentation of breads, and other bakery items under the supervision of senior chefs. This role requires a passion for baking, attention to detail, and adherence to hygiene and safety standards to ensure high-quality products are consistently delivered.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing and baking breads - mainly Pita Bread and other bakery products as per recipes and standards.
- Measure and mix ingredients accurately, ensuring proper portion control and consistency.
- Support senior bakery chefs in new product development and seasonal offerings.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation, ensuring all tools and equipment are sanitized and in good condition.
- Follow food safety and hygiene practices in compliance with HACCP and company policies.
- Monitor stock levels of bakery ingredients and report shortages to supervisors.
- Assist in receiving and properly storing raw materials and supplies.
- Ensure timely preparation and delivery of bakery products for service.
- Work collaboratively with the bakery team to maintain efficiency and product quality.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Chef de Partie or Pastry Chef.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Previous experience in a bakery, pastry kitchen, or culinary environment preferred.
- Basic knowledge of baking techniques, dough handling, and pastry preparation.
- Passion for bakery and willingness to learn and grow.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and time-management skills.
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.
- High school diploma or equivalent; culinary/bakery certification is a plus.
