Were Hiring: Commis Chef – Hot Kitchen
As a Commis Chef – Hot Kitchen, you'll support the Chef de Partie (or Demi Chef de Partie) in preparing hot dishes—such as mains, sides, and appetizers—according to quality standards. You’ll assist in daily mise en place, food production, and maintaining excellent hygiene and cost control practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist Chef de Partie / Demi Chef de Partie with daily food preparation and cooking tasks
- Prepare hot dishes (grilling, frying, sautéing, braising, etc.) following standardized recipes, portion sizes, and presentation guidelines
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations; adhere to food safety, hygiene, and HACCP standards
- Support mise en place, stock rotation, inventory management, and cost control within your section
- Follow instructions from superiors; coordinate with other kitchen sections for smooth operations
- Sample and taste foods during preparation; monitor cooking equipment and food quality
- Assist with buffet set-up/refill and proper food presentation when required
- Maintain personal grooming and uphold company standards; attend pre- and post-service briefings and training
Qualifications & Experience
- Culinary diploma or professional kitchen apprenticeship; formal culinary training is a plus
- Previous experience in a hot kitchen environment, ideally within quality establishments or hotels; entry-level candidates with solid training may be considered
- Proficiency in basic hot cooking techniques (grilling, sauté, roast, etc.) and portion control Innovation
- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and relevant local regulations (e.g., HACCP, Dubai Municipality standards) Innovation
- Good communication skills (English essential); ability to work in multicultural, fast-paced environments
