Key Responsibilities:
- Select and source appropriate upholstery materials such as fabric, leather, foam, and batting based on project requirements.
- Dismantle furniture frames to prepare for reupholstering.
- Install foam, batting, and padding in line with the furniture’s design and comfort specifications.
- Install, repair, or replace furniture webbing and seating springs.
- Cut, stretch, and attach fabric or leather coverings smoothly and securely.
- Use stitching, gluing, stapling, and nailing techniques to affix coverings with precision.
- Inspect and smooth out imperfections or flaws to maintain a high-quality finish.
- Conduct final quality checks to ensure all upholstered furniture meets company standards.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a sofa upholsterer or in a similar role.
- Excellent knowledge of upholstery materials, tools, and techniques.
- Skilled in using hand tools, sewing machines, and pneumatic staplers.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality finishing.
- Ability to follow furniture design specifications and measurements.
- Physical strength and stamina to handle manual tasks.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with both traditional and modern upholstery styles.
- Ability to read technical drawings or design plans.
- Knowledge of furniture repair and restoration is an advantage.
