Job Summary:
A florist is responsible for designing, arranging, and selling floral arrangements, bouquets, and decorative plant displays. They work with customers to create custom floral designs for various occasions, such as weddings, funerals, birthdays, and corporate events. Florists also maintain fresh inventory, care for flowers and plants, and provide excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create floral arrangements, bouquets, and decorative displays based on customer requests and seasonal availability.
- Consult with customers to understand their needs and recommend appropriate floral designs.
- Arrange flowers, greenery, and decorative elements in vases, baskets, and other containers.
- Maintain fresh flower stock, ensuring proper storage, watering, and handling.
- Order, receive, and inspect floral shipments for quality and freshness.
- Keep the work area, tools, and equipment clean and organized.
- Manage sales transactions, handle payments, and provide excellent customer service.
- Design and set up floral displays for events, including weddings, funerals, and corporate functions.
- Stay updated on floral trends, design techniques, and seasonal flower availability.
- Create and maintain an online presence (if applicable) for promoting and selling floral arrangements.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience in floral design or a related field (preferred but not always required).
- Strong creativity and artistic skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to work with delicate materials.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Basic knowledge of plant care and flower preservation.
- Physical stamina to stand for long hours and handle floral arrangements.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines for special events.
