Core Responsibilities:
- Operating Forklifts:Safely operating forklifts and other material handling equipment to move materials and products.
- Loading and Unloading:Loading and unloading trucks, containers, and railcars with materials and products.
- Material Handling:Moving materials to and from storage areas, production lines, and loading docks.
- Stacking and Organizing:Stacking materials, pallets, and products in designated storage areas according to inventory procedures.
- Inventory Management:Maintaining accurate inventory records, tracking incoming and outgoing shipments, and reporting any discrepancies.
- Equipment Maintenance:Performing routine checks and basic maintenance on forklifts, reporting any malfunctions or needed repairs.
- Safety Compliance:Adhering to all safety regulations and procedures to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
Additional Responsibilities (May Vary by Employer):
- Pallet Building and Breakdown:Building and breaking down pallets of materials for storage and shipment.
- Warehouse Organization:Maintaining a clean and organized work area, ensuring proper placement of materials and equipment.
- Quality Assurance:Inspecting materials for damage or defects, reporting any issues to supervisors.
- Documentation:Completing paperwork, logs, and reports related to inventory, shipments, and equipment maintenance.
- Collaboration:Working with other warehouse staff to ensure efficient and smooth operations.
- Hazardous Material Handling:In some roles, handling and disposing of hazardous materials according to regulations.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Forklift Operation: Proven experience operating forklifts and other material handling equipment.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift, push, and pull materials, as well as perform physically demanding tasks.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to accurately track inventory, follow instructions, and maintain accurate records.
- Safety Awareness: Strong understanding of safety regulations and procedures.
- Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and other team members.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve issues related to equipment malfunctions or inventory discrepancies.
- Basic Math and Numeracy Skills: Required for inventory tracking and documentation
