A garden supervisor oversees the maintenance and operation of gardens, parks, or other landscaped areas. This includes managing teams, scheduling tasks, and ensuring the proper care of plants and grounds. They also handle tasks like planting, pruning, fertilizing, and pest control, and may be involved in landscaping projects and event support.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Management:
Supervising and scheduling gardening staff, assigning tasks, and ensuring team members are trained in proper techniques and safety procedures.
Grounds Maintenance:
Overseeing the upkeep of lawns, gardens, trees, shrubs, and other landscaping elements, including mowing, pruning, fertilizing, watering, and pest control.
Project Management:
Planning and executing landscaping projects, including seasonal planting and garden design, and coordinating with other departments for events or special projects.
Resource Management:
Managing gardening tools, equipment, and supplies, and ensuring proper maintenance and inventory.
Health & Safety:
Ensuring all gardening activities comply with safety regulations and environmental standards.
Record Keeping:
Maintaining records of work completed, staff performance, and inventory.
Skills and Qualifications:
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Extensive knowledge of horticulture and landscaping principles.
Experience in plant care, including planting, pruning, fertilizing, and pest control.
Ability to manage and motivate a team.
Organizational and time management skills.
Understanding of health and safety regulations.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labor.
