Job Summary:
The General Accountant is responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting functions, including bookkeeping, financial reporting, bank reconciliations, and compliance with company policies and accounting standards. This role plays a critical part in maintaining the financial integrity of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain general ledger entries, journal vouchers, and supporting documents.
- Handle accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely processing and reconciliation.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
- Perform bank, supplier, and customer reconciliations.
- Monitor and record fixed assets and depreciation schedules.
- Process payroll accounting entries and reconcile employee-related accounts.
- Assist in VAT filing and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
- Review and analyze financial data for accuracy and completeness.
- Coordinate with external auditors during audits and provide required documentation.
- Maintain proper documentation and filing of all accounting records.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis activities.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 2–3 years of proven experience in general accounting or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Tally, ERP systems).
- Excellent MS Office skills.
- High attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in manufacturing, trading, or service industry.
- Knowledge of UAE VAT and compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with internal controls and audit processes.
