Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced Group Medical Insurance Underwriter responsible for assessing, evaluating, and underwriting group medical insurance applications for businesses, organizations, and other entities. This role involves analyzing risk, calculating premiums, determining coverage options, and making decisions that align with the company’s underwriting policies and industry regulations. The underwriter works closely with the sales, operations, and client management teams to provide comprehensive insurance solutions to clients while ensuring profitability for the company.
Job Responsibilities:
- Customer communication and Support:
- Develop and propose customized medical insurance plans for groups, aligning with client needs while ensuring profitability and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Liaise with clients, and agents to explain underwriting decisions, provide clarifications, and resolve any issues related to medical coverage.
- Liaise with clients & sales advisors on al enquires, understand client requirements and provide adequate solutions and technical guidance. When required, should accompany sales advisors for client meetings & presentations.
- Risk Evaluation:
- Evaluate and assess group medical insurance applications by analyzing client data, medical histories, claims records, and other relevant information to determine risk and coverage options.
- Calculate premiums for group health insurance plans based on risk factors, including group size, claims history, industry type, and health conditions. Provide quotes and ensure the accuracy of pricing.
- Monitor and analyze claims trends and emerging risks within group policies. Recommend adjustments or improvements to mitigate risks and optimize policy performance.
- Compliance & Regulations:
- Stay updated on industry regulations, market trends, and changes in laws related to group medical insurance. Ensure all underwriting activities comply with state, federal, and company-specific policies.
- Ensure all underwriting decisions are made in accordance with the company's underwriting guidelines, industry regulations, and legal requirements.
- Documentation:
- Maintain detailed records of underwriting decisions, client communications, and policy changes. Prepare reports on underwriting activity, including risk exposure and trends.
- Team Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with sales and account management teams to understand client needs, resolve issues, and enhance customer satisfaction. Support brokers by answering technical questions and providing recommendations on plan options.
Requirements:
- Minimum 1 years of UAE experience in coordination group medical insurance or a similar role in the insurance broker industry.
- Strong knowledge of group health insurance products, insurers, underwriting processes, and risk assessment methodologies.
- Strong ability to analyze complex data and make informed underwriting decisions.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in evaluating applications and calculating premiums.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple inquiries or tasks simultaneously.
- Proficient in CRM systems and Microsoft office.
- Ability to work under pressure to meet sales targets and deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to explain technical terms and policies in an easily understandable manner
- Familiarity with the UAE insurance market and regulatory requirements is an advantage
