An HVAC draftsman with construction experience is responsible for creating detailed technical drawings and layouts of HVAC systems for construction projects, ensuring designs meet project specifications, regulatory codes, and are coordinated with other disciplines.
Key responsibilities include:
Developing accurate HVAC ducting and piping system drawings and layouts using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD).
Collaborating with engineers and project managers to integrate HVAC designs with architectural, structural, and electrical plans.
Preparing shop drawings, equipment schedules (AHUs, FCUs, pumps), and as-built drawings post-installation.
Modifying and updating designs as per site conditions and engineering instructions.
Ensuring compliance with local building codes, industry standards, and authority requirements.
Maintaining drawing logs, revision history, and project documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
Required experience and qualifications:
3–5 years minimum experience as an HVAC draftsman, preferably in construction or contracting.
Proficiency in CAD drafting software (AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks).
Strong understanding of HVAC systems, construction practices, and regulatory compliance.
Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC, or a related discipline.
