Joinery Spray Painter
Role Overview
A Joinery Spray Painter specializes in applying finishes to wooden components, furniture, and cabinetry using spray painting techniques. This role ensures high-quality, durable, and aesthetically pleasing finishes that meet client specifications and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Surface Preparation: Sand, fill, and smooth wooden surfaces to ensure optimal paint adhesion.
- Paint Mixing & Matching: Select and mix paints, stains, and lacquers to achieve desired colors and finishes.
- Spray Application: Use spray guns and equipment to apply coatings evenly across joinery products.
- Detail Work: Apply decorative finishes, stencils, or hand-brushed touches where required.
- Quality Control: Inspect finished products for consistency, coverage, and defects.
- Maintenance: Clean and maintain spray equipment and workspace to ensure safety and efficiency.
- Safety Compliance: Follow health and safety protocols, including the use of masks, ventilation systems, and protective clothing.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in spray painting within a joinery or woodworking environment.
- Strong understanding of wood types and how they react to different finishes.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
- Ability to mix and match colors accurately.
- Familiarity with industrial spray equipment and finishing techniques.
- Physical stamina for standing and working in spray booths for extended periods.
Preferred Background
- High school diploma or vocational training in woodworking or painting.
- Certification in spray painting or surface finishing is a plus.
- Previous experience in furniture manufacturing, cabinetry, or bespoke joinery projects.
