About the Job:
An opportunity has arisen for a Junior Sommelier to join the Shimmers team in Jumeirah Mina Al Salam. The main duties and responsibilities of this role:
- Monitor and manage wine stock, ensure proper rotation, storage, and minimize wastage from opened bottles.
- Support service by recommending wines, refilling glasses, and taking new orders during service.
- Prepare mise en place, keep wine cabinets clean and organized, and label open bottles correctly.
- Communicate wine availability updates and suggest changes to wine lists when needed.
- Participate in daily briefings, share feedback, and assist the team when required. Join training sessions, tastings, and contribute to team wine knowledge.
- Assist in inventories, report variances, and complete assigned tasks on time. Maintain wine chillers at correct temperatures and record them accurately.
About You:
The ideal candidate for this position will have the following experience and qualifications:
- One or two years of experience in the same role with a strong F&B background in a 5-star luxury property or a standalone/branded restaurant.
- Proficient in English and a second language (European languages are desirable).
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products, Micros, and Sevenrooms.
- Expert in Wine, WSET certification required.
- Experience working in a multi-cultural environment.
