Job Title: Operations Manager – Laboratory Services

Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Operations Manager with strong laboratory experience to oversee the daily operations, compliance, and workflow optimization within our laboratory facility. This role is critical in ensuring efficient, safe, and compliant lab operations while supporting scientific staff and driving continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Oversight:
Manage and coordinate daily laboratory operations, including sample processing, equipment maintenance, inventory control, and staff scheduling.
- Staff Management:
Supervise and support lab personnel, including technicians and administrative staff. Responsible for hiring, training, performance evaluations, and fostering a positive work environment.
- Process Optimization:
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve turnaround times without compromising quality or safety.
- Compliance & Quality Assurance:
Ensure laboratory operations meet all regulatory requirements (e.g., CLIA, CAP, ISO, GLP/GMP) and internal quality standards. Lead audits and inspections, maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation.
- Budget & Resource Management:
Monitor budgets, control costs, and oversee procurement of laboratory supplies and equipment. Negotiate with vendors and manage service contracts.
- Safety & Risk Management:
Enforce lab safety protocols and ensure staff compliance with health and safety regulations. Manage incident reporting and corrective action plans.
- Technology & Equipment Oversight:
Collaborate with technical teams to oversee the installation, calibration, and maintenance of laboratory instruments and information systems (e.g., LIMS).
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with R&D, quality, regulatory, and senior leadership to align lab operations with organizational goals and project timelines.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Laboratory Technology, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in laboratory operations, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role
- Strong knowledge of lab regulatory requirements and quality management systems
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage cross-functional projects
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Experience with LIMS, laboratory automation, or digital workflow tools is a plus
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in a clinical, diagnostic, pharmaceutical, or research laboratory
- Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies
- Hands-on experience managing accreditation or compliance audits
