Assists pharmacists in providing quality pharmaceutical care in accordance with U.A.E. Regulations, standards of JCAHO, and established departmental procedures. Specifically helping to coordinate unit dose distribution and outpatient dispensing activities.
- Dispenses medications under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist excluding Narcotics, Controlled and Semi Controlled medications.
- Reviews physician’s medication orders/prescriptions and prepares medication for distribution under direct supervision of a pharmacist, calling the attention of a pharmacist to any observed conflicts/discrepancies.
- Inputs physician’s medication orders into Pharmacy Patient Medication Profile and maintains related records.
- Fills unit dose medication cassettes according to Patient Medication Profile.
- Exchanges medication cassettes according to departmental schedule
- Communicates with nurses and other hospital staff
- Assists pharmacists in coordinating unit dose distribution and operations in the dispensing area of the inpatient and outpatient pharmacies.
- Performs tasks required for processing prescriptions under Pharmacist supervision.
- Maintains inventory levels of fast-moving repackaged medications
- Maintains established levels of medication in the dispensing areas, replenishes stock as necessary and reports any pending shortages or unusual movement in supplies / medications to the senior pharmacist.

- Assists in the training of Pharmacy Technician II’s in the dispensing area.
- Assists in the monthly expired drug inspection in the dispensing area and other assigned areas.
- Maintains all appropriate documentation and reports of drug distribution.
- Assists in the preparation of extemporaneous compounds and sterile products using approved procedures and techniques.
- Coordinates the cleaning of medication cassettes on a regular basis.
- Performs all duties in a professional, effective and confidential manner.
- Assists with assigned drug utilization reviews, data gathering and analysis.
- Generate labels and gather drugs or supplies required for pharmacists to fill prescription orders.
- Maintains the routine pick-up and delivery of medication and as required, the unit dose cart fill and cassette exchange process.
- Provides assistance in controlling expired drug products and removes them from stock.
- Performs other tasks as required and assigned.
- Maintains the pharmacy / work areas in a neat, clean and orderly fashion.
- Pharmacy diploma or equivalent
- Current license from country of origin preferred
