Role Summary:
We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Site Inspector to join the construction supervision team on a marine and coastal engineering construction project. The Inspector will be responsible for on-site inspection, monitoring, and reporting of construction activities related to breakwaters, quay walls, revetments, land reclamation, and dredging to ensure compliance with contract drawings, specifications, and approved quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct daily inspections of works on site and ensure construction activities are carried out in accordance with the approved drawings, method statements, and technical specifications.
- Monitor and report on the progress and quality of marine construction elements such as rock placement, concrete casting, geotextile installation, dredging, backfilling, and marine structures.
- Assist the ARE and RE in verifying compliance with project specifications and standards.
- Witness and document material deliveries, sampling, and testing (e.g., concrete, geotextile, rock gradation).
- Witness pre- and post-construction surveys (bathymetric and topographic).
- Ensure contractor adherence to approved ITPs (Inspection and Test Plans) and quality procedures.
- Maintain detailed site diaries, inspection records, photographs, and non-conformance reports (NCRs).
- Support safety compliance by monitoring site activities and raising site observations where required.
- Coordinate with survey teams to verify setting-out and as-built measurements.
- Attend toolbox talks and coordination meetings as required.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Marine Engineering, or related discipline.
- 5+ years of site inspection experience, including at least 2 years in marine or coastal infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with construction of marine works such as dredging, reclamation, revetments, groynes, breakwaters, sea walls, quay walls, slipways, ro-ro berths, floating berths, fixed jetties, and beaches.
· Familiarity with international construction standards (e.g., BS, EN, ASTM).
- Good understanding of construction materials such as rock, concrete, geotextile, steel, and grout.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
· Proficient in IT skills (e.g. Microsoft Office, SharePoint, AutoCAD).
· Fluent in English (spoken and written).
· GCC project experience preferred.
Desirable Skills:
- Good observational and reporting skills with attention to detail.
· Understanding of marine construction methodologies (e.g., use of marine plant and equipment, rock placement, piling, precast concrete construction).
- Good understanding of bathymetric and topographic surveying.
- Understanding of marine environmental and HSE requirements.
