The role of the job holder is to undertake tailoring tasks that include mending and alterations of Customers garments and linen which may be damaged during the laundering process or specific requests from customers for tailoring services to ensure that provides high levels of services.
In addition this role assists in the folding and packaging of customer*s garments.
Key Result Areas
1.Ensure compliance to all Health and Safety policies.
2.Reports any Health and Safety hazards to immediate head.
3.Responsible for responding to requests and tasks in timely manner by ensuring adequate tailoring supplies.
4.Must maintain a positive working relationship with Co- workers.
5.Mend damaged items to avoid compensation claims
6.Performs minor alterations as per clients request
7.Required to work extended hours and weekends to accommodate customers urgent requests.
8.Repair or replace defective zippers, broken buttons, snaps
9.Alters garments to the satisfaction of the customers.
10.Ensures that the sewing machine is maintained in good condition
11.Maintains inventory of all the required materials such as thread, buttons, zippers, needles, scissors, etc.
12.Alters garment and join parts, using needle and thread or sewing machine.
13.Sews buttons and buttonholes of guests*, executive, uniforms of the Hotels.
14.Using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes.
15.Repairs clothing by patching tears or sewing rips and holes.
16.Assemble garment parts and join parts with basting stitches, using needles and thread or sewing machines.
17.Maintain garment drape and proportions as alterations are performed.
18.Repair or replace defective garment parts such as pockets, zippers, snaps, buttons and linings.
19.Record required alterations and instructions on tags and attach them to garments.
20.Remove stitches from garments to be altered using rippers or razor blades.
21.Conducts measurements of items as per clients request and approved by immediate head
22.Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customers and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standard for services,and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
Job Context:
Linencraft currently renders its services to over 45 Airline customers, 36 Hospitality customers, operates 13 Emirates laundry outlets and 2 in-house hotel laundries. Currently, Linencraft processes over 300,000 pieces of linen and garments a day. Linencraft largely comprises of five main sections, Logistics, Airline laundry operations, Hospitality operations, Dry cleaning operations and Administration. Linencraft is now diversifying into the Health care laundry business. The main functions of these sections are Logistics, soil laundry collection, sorting, washing / dry cleaning process, finishing process, quality control, packing and dispatch to the end customer in accordance with the stringent time frames. Thus, to work in such an environment is indeed a very challenging and sensitive job.
The Principal role of the Job holder*s responsibilities is to ensure that all items that requires for repair and alterations are done according to Linencraft and Customers* standards.
Knowledge, Skills & Minimum Experience: Education Qualification:
a) High school graduate or vocational school certificate in sewing/tailoring (must have)
