Responsibilities:
- Maintenance, preparation, and cleaning of laboratory equipment
- Organisation and maintenance of efficient storage systems for equipment and materials
- Prepare and provide equipment for lessons.
- Preparation of laboratory solutions
- Stock control including preparing lists of replacements as required.
- Assist with completing and collating of the annual order for the Science Department.
- Assist with Reprographic work as required.
- To undertake such other duties as may reasonably be determined by the Head of Science / Senior Science Technician
With all School Staff
- Assist school in achieving its overall vision and strategic intentions and to contribute to the achievement of relevant targets as set out in the school’s improvement plan and self-evaluation form
- Comply with regulations pertaining to health and safety at work legislation and adhere to school policies relating to safe working practice and equal opportunities regulations.
- Comply with the school’s Performance Management Policy ensuring challenging annual targets are set and to fulfil the role of performance management reviewer if directed to do so by the Principal.
- Engage in annual training linked to child protection, safeguarding and health and safety together with all training deemed appropriate for the purpose of school improvement or performance management.
- Comply with the school’s staff dress code at all times including the wearing of photo ID / lanyard
- Comply with the school’s computer Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) at all times.
- Attend all staff briefings.
- Sign out and sign in at relevant school reception if off site at any point during the normal working day
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- “Bachelors Degree
- An “A” Level in Science would be an advantage.
- Appreciation of the importance of high standards
Minimum Experience:
- Experience in similar role
- Experience with working in an educational setup.
Job Specifics, Knowledge & Skills:
- Previous experience working with students whom English is not their first language.
- Excellent literacy and communication skills (both written and spoken) as a large part of the role involves communicating with SLT, Heads of Department, students and parents.
