Job Summary:
The Waiter is responsible for delivering exceptional dining service by taking and serving orders, managing customer interactions, and ensuring accuracy in billing using the restaurant’s POS (Point of Sale) system. This role requires excellent customer service skills, attention to detail, and experience handling orders and payments through a POS interface.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet guests warmly, present menus, and offer recommendations.
- Take food and beverage orders accurately and enter them into the POS system.
- Ensure orders are correctly transmitted to the kitchen and bar.
- Serve food and beverages promptly, adhering to service standards.
- Process customer bills, handle payments, and issue receipts through the POS system.
- Monitor table status and manage reservations or seating arrangements via POS when applicable.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of dining and service areas.
- Coordinate closely with kitchen and bar staff to ensure timely and accurate order delivery.
- Handle guest complaints or special requests professionally and efficiently.
- Follow all health, safety, and food hygiene regulations.
Skills & Competencies:
- Proficiency in operating POS systems for order taking and billing.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in processing orders and payments.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic math skills for cash handling and billing.
- Team-oriented with a positive attitude.
Qualifications & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience as a waiter/waitress in a restaurant, café, or hotel.
- Hands-on experience using POS systems (e.g., Micros, Toast, Square, or similar).
- Good command of English; additional languages are an advantage.
Working Conditions:
- Restaurant or hospitality environment.
- Shifts may include evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
- Standing and walking for extended periods.
