Role Summary
The Account Director is primarily responsible for managing private sector’s client relationship(s), identifying the strategy which supports the client’s objectives, developing communication plans, as well as managing work activities and resources within agreed upon budgets. The Account Director should identify and pursue opportunities for new business; show demonstrated strategic abilities and have strong written and verbal communication skills. Experience working for transportation, Infrastructure and defence sector is a plus.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage and strengthens client relationships, serving as the primary contact.
- Lead the development and execution of strategic communications plans that align with the client’s goals.
- Serve as the daily client advisor on media positioning, engagement strategy, and high-impact storytelling opportunities.
- Craft executive messaging, press releases, thought leadership, speeches, briefing notes, media responses, and stakeholder materials.
- Support reputation management and media relations—proactively identify media opportunities, secure coverage, and manage journalist relationships.
- Ensure alignment of communications outputs with national strategies.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders, agency teams, and cross-functional partners to ensure consistent narrative and brand positioning.
- Coordinate with digital and creative teams to deliver integrated campaigns across traditional and online platforms.
- Ensure high-quality delivery of client programs, aligning with APCO’s business goals.
- Identifies and pursues new business opportunities, writes proposals, and leads pitches
Requirements
- 8+ years of relevant experience in an agency, consulting firm, corporation, diplomatic post or media role.
- Experience working for private sector is a plus.
- Experience working for transportation, Infrastructure and defence sector is a plus
- Exceptional writing and analytical skills and experience in stakeholder-focused communications and digital strategy.
- Solid project management experience.
- Must reside in Dubai or be willing to relocate.
- Willing to work additional or irregular hours as needed and allowed by local regulations.
