What you'll be doing
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Assistant Manager to support day-to-day operations at our Distribution Centre. The ideal candidate will assist in supervising warehouse functions, ensuring optimal productivity, inventory accuracy, and compliance with safety and quality standards. This role requires a hands-on leader with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Support the Distribution Centre Manager in overseeing inbound, outbound, storage, and inventory operations.
- Supervise and coordinate daily warehouse activities to meet productivity and service targets.
- Monitor inventory levels, cycle counts, and stock accuracy; assist with inventory reconciliation and audits.
- Manage a team of warehouse associates, including assigning tasks, performance monitoring, and training.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety regulations, and standard operating procedures.
- Collaborate with transport, customer service, and procurement teams to ensure smooth logistics flow.
- Analyze operational KPIs and identify improvement areas in cost, speed, accuracy, and efficiency.
- Assist in planning and implementing new processes or technology to improve operations.
- Maintain warehouse cleanliness, equipment upkeep, and ensure adherence to security protocols.
- Resolve operational issues, escalations, and delays with minimal disruption to service levels.
What you’ll need to succeed
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in warehouse/distribution operations, including 1–2 years in a supervisory or team lead role.
- Strong knowledge of WMS (Warehouse Management Systems), MS Excel, and inventory control systems.
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, high-volume environment with changing priorities.
- Familiarity with lean warehousing, 5S, and other process improvement methodologies is a plus.
- Flexibility to work extended hours or shifts if required.
Preferred Attributes:
- Certification in Supply Chain (e.g., APICS, CPIM) is a plus.
- Experience with automation systems or ERP integrations (e.g., SAP, Oracle) is an advantage.
- Knowledge of local compliance and labor laws related to warehousing.
