Key Responsibilities
- Beverage Preparation: Baristas prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, including coffee, espresso drinks, teas, and specialty drinks. They must follow specific recipes and techniques to ensure quality and consistency.
- Customer Service: A significant part of a barista's role involves interacting with customers. This includes taking orders, providing recommendations, answering questions about the menu, and ensuring a positive customer experience.
- Cash Handling: Baristas are responsible for processing payments, operating cash registers, and handling cash and credit transactions accurately.
- Workspace Maintenance: Keeping the work area clean and organized is crucial. Baristas must regularly clean equipment, sanitize surfaces, and restock supplies to maintain a safe and efficient workspace.
- Food Preparation: In addition to beverages, baristas may also prepare and serve light food items such as pastries, sandwiches, and snacks.
