Job Purpose:
To oversee the daily operations and administration of labor camps, ensuring safe, clean, and compliant accommodations for the workforce. The Camp Boss is responsible for managing camp staff, enforcing discipline, maintaining hygiene, ensuring availability of utilities and supplies, and addressing the welfare needs of the residents in accordance with UAE labor laws and company policies.
Key Responsibilities:1. Accommodation Management
- Supervise overall operations of the labor camp, including room allocations, housekeeping, and maintenance.
- Maintain updated records of occupants and ensure accurate documentation of check-ins, check-outs, and room status.
- Ensure adequate space planning in line with UAE labor law (e.g., occupancy limits, facilities per worker).
2. Health, Safety & Hygiene
- Enforce strict hygiene, cleanliness, and safety standards across the camp (kitchens, toilets, common areas).
- Monitor food quality and water supply, in coordination with catering vendors and facilities teams.
- Ensure emergency response procedures are in place (e.g., fire safety drills, medical protocols).
3. Discipline & Welfare
- Enforce camp rules and handle disciplinary issues with residents respectfully and in alignment with HR policies.
- Address grievances or welfare concerns raised by workers, escalating unresolved issues to HR Operations.
- Conduct regular inspections and resolve issues proactively (e.g., plumbing, air conditioning, pest control).
4. Utilities & Supplies
- Monitor availability of water, electricity, gas, and internet, and coordinate with relevant teams for uninterrupted supply.
- Ensure timely requisition and distribution of cleaning supplies, bedding, PPE, uniforms, etc.
5. Coordination with HR & Government Relations
- Maintain accurate labor records, support mobilization and demobilization processes, and coordinate with HR for documentation and visa-related support.
- Assist PRO/GR team with location-based updates (e.g., absconders, police checks, medical emergencies).
6. Team Supervision
- Supervise camp staff including cleaners, security, kitchen staff, and maintenance teams.
- Schedule shifts, evaluate performance, and ensure duties are carried out effectively.
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as Camp Boss or similar role in construction, contracting, or oil & gas sectors in the UAE or GCC.
- Strong experience managing labor accommodations and multicultural workforce.
Technical & Language Skills:
- Knowledge of UAE labor laws, accommodation standards, and HSE regulations.
- Proficiency in basic MS Office / Excel for reporting.
- Fluency in English is required; knowledge of Hindi/Urdu, Arabic, or other regional languages is an advantage.
Soft Skills:
- Strong leadership and crisis management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Problem-solving and ability to work under pressure.
