A Civil Draftsman is responsible for preparing detailed technical drawings and plans for civil engineering projects such as buildings, roads, bridges, drainage, and infrastructure. The draftsman works under the supervision of civil engineers and contributes to project planning and design documentation using CAD and other drafting software.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate 2D and 3D drawings for civil engineering designs using AutoCAD and other CAD software.
- Draft layouts, elevations, sections, and details for site development, structural components, roads, drainage, and other infrastructure.
- Coordinate drawings with architectural, structural, and MEP teams to ensure clash-free design.
- Assist in preparing as-built drawings, shop drawings, and detailed construction documents.
- Revise drawings based on engineer or client feedback.
- Ensure drawings meet project specifications, industry standards, and local codes.
- Maintain and organize all project-related drawings and documentation.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Diploma / ITI in Civil Engineering or Drafting.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D essential, 3D is a plus).
- Knowledge of civil construction methods and drawing standards.
- Ability to read and understand engineering and architectural plans.
- Experience with software like Revit, Civil 3D, or SketchUp is an advantage.
- Strong attention to detail and good communication skills.
Experience Required:
- 2 to 5 years of experience in civil drafting, preferably in the construction or infrastructure industry.
Work Environment:
- Primarily office-based with potential site visits.
- Work closely with engineers, architects, and project managers.
- Should be able to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
