Overview
We are seeking an experienced Clinical Scientist specializing in Genetics to lead and manage our Genetics Department. The ideal candidate will oversee the development and validation of genetic testing methodologies, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and provide expert consultation on genetic test interpretations.
Key Responsibilities
● Department Leadership: Manage the operations of the Genetics Department, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to quality standards.
● Methodology Design: Develop and implement genetic testing methodologies, including Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) and Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) techniques.
● Test Package Development: Design and oversee the creation of genetic test packages (products) tailored to clinical needs.
● Validation and Accreditation: Lead the validation processes for new tests and ensure the laboratory meets accreditation standards such as ISO 15189 and those set by the DHA.
● Expert Consultation: Provide specialist advice and interpretation of genetic test results to clinicians and other stakeholders.
● Clinical Reporting: Authorize and sign off on clinical genetic reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
● Equipment Proficiency: Operate and maintain NGS equipment, specifically Thermo Fisher Ion Torrent and Oxford Nanopore platforms.
● Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all laboratory practices comply with DHA standards and guidelines for genomics testing laboratories.
Qualifications and Experience
● Educational Background: Master’s or Doctorate degree in Genetics, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
● Professional Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a clinical genetics laboratory setting, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
● Technical Expertise: Proficient in NGS and PCR methodologies, with hands-on experience using Thermo Fisher Ion Torrent and Oxford Nanopore equipment.
● Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with DHA standards for genomics laboratories and international accreditation requirements.
● Licensure: DHA Professional License as a Clinical Scientist (Genetics).
