Job Purpose: Consultant Gastroenterology
Consultants to the department of gastroenterology must be able to take calls, be involved in in-patient duties/rounds and outpatient clinic commitments. They are in charge of admitting, diagnosing and treating patients and eventually producing clinical reports. They must be qualified in handling necessary equipment for both diagnosis and treatment related to their practice and department. In addition, they must attend all necessary departmental, hospital and morning meetings- participation is encouraged and teaching, guiding or supervising junior staff is a necessity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients presenting with gastrointestinal symptoms, using advanced diagnostic techniques like endoscopy, imaging, and clinical assessment. Consult with other specialists, primary care physicians, and other members of the healthcare team to manage patient care effectively
- Supervising and providing schematic care to patients in hospital wards as well as in and out-patient clinics
- Making detailed notes as a legal documentation for treatment beneficial to other health care providers and professionals.
- Participating in creating, presenting and monitoring health programs or events as appropriate
Requirements:
- Medical degree from a recognized institution, with specialization in Gastroenterology
- Western board certification (e.g., American Board, FRCS, or equivalent).
- Extensive experience (10+ years) in Gastroenterology, with a proven track record of clinical excellence and leadership.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Commitment to patient-centered care and continuous improvement.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Fluency in English
