Job Summary:
The Cook is responsible for preparing and serving daily meals for the ship’s crew and officers, ensuring proper hygiene, food safety, and nutrition standards onboard. This role is based in Abu Dhabi and may include offshore deployment depending on the vessel’s operations. The Cook also maintains the cleanliness of the galley and food storage areas in compliance with maritime health regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and prepare three daily meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) and snacks for crew and officers.
- Ensure meals are nutritious, well-balanced, and appropriate for diverse nationalities and dietary needs.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the galley, mess areas, and food storage spaces at all times.
- Monitor food stock levels and assist in provisioning and inventory control.
- Ensure safe storage and handling of all food supplies in accordance with HACCP and maritime food safety standards.
- Minimize food waste and manage rationing efficiently during extended voyages or offshore stays.
- Comply with all shipboard safety and sanitation procedures.
- Assist in cleaning and disinfecting kitchenware, equipment, and common dining areas.
- Maintain menu records and food consumption logs as required by vessel or port authorities.
Qualifications:
- Valid Cook Certificate or recognized maritime catering qualification (as per STCW guidelines).
- STCW Basic Safety Training, Security Awareness, and Medical Certificate.
- Valid Seaman’s Book and Passport.
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience as a Cook onboard vessels.
- Good knowledge of international cuisine and the ability to cook for multi-national crews.
- Understanding of hygiene and food safety standards (HACCP or equivalent).
Preferred Experience:
- Previous experience on vessels operating in UAE or Abu Dhabi waters.
- Experience in offshore vessels, oil & gas support ships, or rigs is a strong advantage.
- Familiarity with ADNOC or Abu Dhabi Maritime health and safety standards.
