Job Purpose
To deliver accredited Defensive Driving training programs to light and heavy vehicle drivers, in accordance with UAE traffic laws, international road safety standards, and client-specific fleet safety policies. The instructor ensures drivers improve their hazard perception, driving behavior, and emergency response skills, contributing to reduced road incidents and enhanced safety culture.
Key Responsibilities:
Training Delivery:
- Deliver Defensive Driving courses aligned with RTA, Abu Dhabi Police, or international standards (e.g., RoSPA, Smith System, IAM, OSHA).
- Instruct both light vehicle and heavy vehicle (bus/truck/4x4) drivers.
- Conduct practical driving assessments, ride-alongs, and simulations.
- Tailor training for off-road, desert, or industrial environments (e.g., oilfields, remote sites).
Curriculum and Materials:
- Prepare training materials including presentations, case studies, handouts, and safety videos.
- Keep training content updated with UAE traffic law amendments and road safety campaigns.
- Customize modules for corporate clients based on incident trends and risk profiles.
Assessment & Reporting:
- Conduct pre-course evaluations and post-training assessments (theory and practical).
- Maintain accurate records of learner performance and certification status.
- Provide individual feedback and improvement plans for drivers with poor safety records.
Regulatory Compliance & Quality:
- Ensure training delivery complies with UAE Federal Traffic Law No. 21 of 1995, GRP-HS-B-S-009 Driving Standard, and ADOSH (Abu Dhabi Occupational Safety and Health System Framework) standards.
- Participate in internal and external audits and accreditations.
Client Support & Follow-Up:
- Conduct on-site observations and risk assessments for client fleets.
- Provide post-training recommendations to reduce driving risks and improve fleet KPIs.
- Support the implementation of Journey Management Plans and Safe Driving Policies.
Required Qualifications:
- Valid UAE Driving License (Manual – Light and preferably Heavy Vehicle).
- Certified Defensive Driving Instructor (e.g., RoSPA, Smith System, IVV, or local UAE authority).
- Train-the-Trainer or equivalent adult education certification.
Experience:
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Defensive Driving Instructor in the UAE.
- Proven track record delivering training for corporate, oil & gas, or government clients.
- Experience in off-road, 4x4, and desert driving instruction is an advantage.
Key Skills:
- Deep knowledge of UAE traffic rules, local road conditions, and high-risk driving behaviors.
- Strong communication, facilitation, and coaching skills.
- Ability to manage mixed groups of learners from diverse nationalities and language backgrounds.
- Incident investigation and fleet safety knowledge is a plus.
Preferred Attributes:
- Bilingual: English (mandatory); Arabic or Urdu/Hindi is a strong asset.
- Familiarity with fleet safety KPIs, telematics, and journey risk management tools.
- Willing to travel across Emirates and work flexible hours, including field locations.
