The Home Delivery Staff member is responsible for the safe, timely, and accurate delivery of goods directly to customers' homes. This role requires excellent customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to navigate effectively. The ideal candidate will be reliable, punctual, and possess a strong work ethic.
Key Responsibilities:
- Delivery Operations:
- Load and unload delivery vehicles efficiently and carefully, ensuring proper handling of all items.
- Plan and execute delivery routes efficiently to meet scheduled delivery times.
- Safely operate delivery vehicles (e.g., vans, motorcycles, bicycles, or cars, depending on the company's mode of transport) in accordance with all traffic laws and company policies.
- Verify accuracy of orders against delivery manifests before leaving the dispatch location and upon delivery to the customer.
- Collect payments from customers as required (cash, card, or mobile payments) and ensure accurate reconciliation at the end of each shift.
- Obtain customer signatures or other forms of delivery confirmation as per company procedure.
- Handle returns or exchanges according to company policy.
- Customer Service:
- Provide excellent customer service during all interactions, maintaining a polite, professional, and friendly demeanor.
- Address customer inquiries or concerns promptly and professionally, or escalate to a supervisor when necessary.
- Ensure a positive delivery experience for every customer.
- Vehicle Maintenance & Safety:
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the delivery vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition.
- Report any vehicle maintenance issues or accidents promptly to the supervisor.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies while on duty.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Complete delivery logs, manifests, and other required paperwork accurately and legibly.
- Report any discrepancies, delivery issues, or customer feedback to the supervisor.
- General Duties:
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the delivery vehicle.
- Assist with warehouse duties or other tasks as needed during non-delivery times.
- Adhere to company uniform and appearance standards.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in a delivery, customer service, or logistics role is preferred.
- License: Valid UAE driver's license appropriate for the vehicle being operated (e.g., light vehicle, motorcycle) with a clean driving record. (Specify if a specific class of license is required).
- Knowledge & Skills:
- Excellent navigation skills and familiarity with local routes and areas in Dubai/UAE.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle cash and process electronic payments accurately.
- Good communication skills (verbal and written, Arabic and/or English preferred, depending on customer base).
- Punctual and reliable with a strong sense of responsibility.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic mechanical knowledge for vehicle checks is a plus.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver packages of various weights and sizes (specify typical weight limits if applicable, e.g., up to 25 kg).
- Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
- Good vision and hearing.
Working Conditions:
- Primarily outdoor work, exposed to various weather conditions.
- Requires driving for extended periods.
- May involve working evenings, weekends, and public holidays as per business needs.
- Fast-paced environment during peak hours.
