v Overall Job Description
Responsible for inspecting the installation of electrical systems and equipment to detect faulty wiring and ensure they comply with electrical codes and standards. Visits construction sites and residences, performs inspection, and makes recommendations for improvement.
v Primary responsibilities
- Examine electrical systems and equipment.
- Keep, monitor and follow up as necessary and maintain complete record(s) concerning the execution of the works.
- Inspect new and existing sound and security systems, wiring, lighting, motors, and generating equipment.
- Inspection, sampling and testing of materials to assure that compliance with the contract specification.
- Inspect the installation of the electrical wiring for heating and air-conditioning systems, appliances, and other components.
- Identify non-conforming work or materials, notify contractor and keep a record. Follow up corrective and preventive measure taken by the Contractor.
- Report findings to contractors or government agencies.
- Assist in the review and forward comments on the contractor’s method statement for execution of the works.
- Attend site technical coordination meetings to discuss contractor (s) submissions, shop drawings, material submittals and construction related matters
- Stop construction of non-compliant installations.
- Examine and inspect wire harnesses, control panels, coaxial cables, and electrical jig boards, for completeness of assembly, quality, and conformance to blueprints.
- Inspect wiring of assemblies for accuracy of stripping, soldering, and crimping, and for defects.
- Look for frayed wires and loose connections.
- Test continuity and Compile inspection reports.
- Write up recommendations for improvement.
- Verify wire and cable length.
- Examine parts and assemblies.
- Carry out the final inspection for certification of final completion and handing over of the works.
- Assist in the review and forward comments on the Technical Query raised by the contractor.
- Inspect the work done by the contractor(s) to ascertain that work is executed in accordance with the Contract Documents and accepted practice
- Inspect the on-site and off-site materials to be used in the project and organise field and laboratory tests, conducted by others, on construction materials to ascertain their compliance with the specifications and determine it acceptability for use on the project.
- Identify potential safety concerns and inform the contractor (s).
Review the site progress and assist in the review of the contractor’s interim payment application.
- Liaise with the supervision department for the effective implementation of the quality management systems and site supervision provision activities.
- Ensure Implementation of the site supervision quality procedures, and review submission requirements of the project, along with the contractor and report findings
- Review all construction documents and highlight any design and contractual discrepancies
- Ensure that all statutory authority NOC’s / permits / design approvals are available on site for construction.
- Extend the maximum possible effort to avoid contractor(s) claims for cost and/or delay.
- Review and forward any comments on the contractor’s method statement for installation, execution of the works.
- Review and forward any comments on the contractor’s technical submittals.
- Monitor the progress of the work against the approved contractor programme of works.
- Verify the accuracy of the contractor’s “As-Built” drawings reflecting in details the as-builtv Qualifications
Materials, methods, regulations and requirements relative to the construction of electrical and related facilities associated with city street, park, utility and related projects.
- Defects and faults in electrical construction installations.
- Tools, surveying instruments and equipment used in construction of city projects.
- Basic mathematics including algebra, geometry and trigonometry.
v Educations / Experiences
· Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a comparable role / electrical engineering graduation or diploma in electrical engineering
· A working knowledge of BS/IEC/ISO/API/ATEX/EEMUA codes and standards relating to electrical and instrumentation work
· Working knowledge of construction standards, codes of practice and regulations/legislation relating to electrical and instrumentation work
· Knowledge of safety legislation and regulations
· Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Package. Familiar with other computer packages (eg. MS Project, Outlook, WinPCS, etc)
· Hazardous Area installation and inspection experience is an advantage
