Job Description
- Greeting and welcoming guests as they arrive at the restaurant.
- Escorting guests to their tables and providing them with menus.
- Taking reservations and managing the seating plan to ensure efficient operation.
- Providing recommendations on food and drink selections, along with information about specials and promotions.
- Ensuring that guests are attended to promptly and addressing any requests or concerns they may have.
- Coordinating with the kitchen and serving staff to ensure smooth service.
- Handling guest inquiries, feedback, and complaints in a professional and courteous manner.
- Maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
- Assist in setting up and clearing tables to ensure a smooth flow of service.
- Collaborate with the restaurant manager and staff to ensure that guest preferences and special requests are accommodated.
- Maintain knowledge of the restaurant's menu items, ingredients, and preparation methods to provide accurate information to guests.
- Assist in training and mentoring new hostess staff members.
- Help with administrative tasks such as taking reservations, managing guest lists, and updating restaurant seating arrangements.
- Handle cash and credit card transactions accurately and securely.
- Assist in maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene in the dining area.
Qualifications
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Friendly and welcoming demeanour.
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of food and beverage offerings.
- Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in a fine dining establishment.
- Strong organizational and customer service skills.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
