Intermediate Interior Designer Job Description
Reports to: Lead Interior Designer/Senior Interior Designer
Collaborates with: Clients, Architects, Structural, MEP, and Landscape Teams
Core Roles and Responsibilities
1. Interior Design Execution & Development
- Support the interior design process from concept to detailed design under the direction of the Lead Interior Designer/Senior Interior Designer.
- Interpret project briefs into well-developed spatial layouts, material palettes, finishes, furniture layouts, and mood boards that reflect the design vision and end-user needs.
- Contribute creative ideas while ensuring alignment with architectural intent and project requirements.
2. Client Interaction Support
- Participate in client meetings alongside senior staff, presenting selected aspects of the design.
- Document client feedback and translate it into actionable design adjustments.
- Maintain professional communication with clients regarding assigned design elements.
3. Resource and Time Coordination
- Assist in developing project schedules and deliverable timelines in coordination with the Senior Interior Designer.
- Prepare required design documentation in accordance with agreed project phases and deadlines.
4. Multidisciplinary Coordination
- Coordinate assigned interior elements with architecture, MEP, structural, and landscape teams.
- Ensure ceiling heights, lighting layouts, AC diffusers, electrical points, and access panels are integrated into design solutions.
- Attend coordination meetings and provide input on assigned areas to help resolve design conflicts.
5. Project Delivery Participation
- Prepare interior design drawings, including plans, elevations, sections, details, and schedules using BIM (Revit) as the primary platform.
- Support the preparation of 3D visuals and presentation materials.
- Ensure assigned deliverables meet company standards and are ready for internal and external review.
6. Compliance and Quality Awareness
- Apply relevant building codes, authority regulations, accessibility requirements, and fire/life safety guidelines to assigned design elements.
- Incorporate sustainable design considerations (e.g., Estidama, WELL, LEED) into material and product selection when applicable.
7. Team Collaboration & Development
- Work collaboratively with the design team, offering guidance to junior designers when appropriate.
- Seek mentorship from senior staff to continue growing in concept development, detailing, and project coordination.
- Contribute to a positive, organized, and creative studio environment.
