The key objectives for this role are
- Overseeing the design, development, and implementation of instrumentation and control systems to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Creating detailed design specifications, selecting appropriate systems, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety protocols.
- Providing guidance to the engineering team, conducting technical reviews, and ensuring the reliability and efficiency of control systems.
- Coordinating with vendors, clients, and other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless integration and quality.
- Developing and overseeing plans for testing and commissioning, ensuring proper calibration and functionality of equipment
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of quality assurance strategies, plans, and procedures across project phases.
- Oversee QA activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and client requirements.
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to integrate quality controls into workflows.
- Review and approve QA documentation, including inspection and test plans (ITPs), quality reports, and non-conformance reports (NCRs).
- Conduct audits, inspections, and surveillance activities to monitor contractor and vendor performance.
- Identify quality risks and lead root cause analysis, implementing corrective and preventive actions.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to QA team members and junior engineers.
- Interface with clients and third-party inspectors to resolve quality-related issues and ensure alignment with contractual obligations.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing QA metrics and recommending process enhancements.
- Ensure compliance with HSSE and regulatory requirements in all QA activities.
- Participate in project meetings, design reviews, and quality workshops as required.
Leadership Skill:
- Lead and mentor a team of QA engineers and designers, serving as the primary point of contact for all QA-related engineering matters.
- Allocate tasks, provide technical guidance, and ensure clear direction to support efficient project execution.
- Develop and manage QA project schedules, ensuring timely submission of deliverables within budgeted timelines.
- Motivate, coach, and manage the team independently, fostering ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure engineering competence across the QA team and support the development of junior professionals.
Technical Oversight
- Identify and resolve technical issues by evaluating multiple solutions and recommending the most effective approach through formal project documentation (e.g., technical queries, deviations).
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of all QA deliverables in compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
- Demonstrate strong technical and practical engineering skills in QA, consistently delivering high-quality work.
- Monitor project milestones and ensure deliverables are aligned with project schedules and allocated manhours.
Stakeholder Management:
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure clear communication and alignment on QA requirements.
- Manage interface meetings with clients and vendors to progress design scopes and resolve quality-related concerns.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure all QA activities comply with applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Promote a culture of safety and quality within the engineering team and across project interfaces.
- Actively participate in project workshops and reviews, including:
- Design Reviews
- P&ID Reviews
- HAZID / HAZOP / SIL / ALARP Reviews
- 3D Model Reviews
- Constructability and SIMOPS Reviews

Expected:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Quality Assurance Engineering or related discipline
- Minimum 15 years of experience in Oil & Gas project design from conceptual to detailed engineering stages
- At least 5 years as Lead Engineer for major Greenfield and Brownfield FEED/Detailed Design projects
- Proven experience in selecting QA equipment, developing control strategies, and preparing specifications
- Preferred expertise in:
- Control system design
- Control loop configuration
- Field instrumentation (sensors, transmitters, actuators)
- Communication protocols: Modbus, Profibus, Foundation Fieldbus
- Experience managing and leading teams of 50+ engineers
- Skilled in coordination of satellite office teams to maintain productivity and quality
- Strong multitasking ability and adaptability in fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environments
- Self-motivated and results-oriented professional
- Effective under tight schedules and high-pressure situations
- Fluent in English, both spoken and written
- Capable of communicating across disciplines and with multicultural teams
- Knowledge of engineering planning, control methods, and inter-discipline coordination
