The MEP Draftsman is responsible for preparing detailed mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) drawings for construction projects. They translate design concepts into technical drawings using AutoCAD, Revit, and other drafting software, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare MEP drawings (HVAC, plumbing, drainage, firefighting, electrical, and low current systems).
Coordinate with MEP engineers to develop detailed shop drawings.
Modify and update design drawings as per site conditions and consultant/client comments.
Ensure drawings are compliant with local codes, project specifications, and standards.
Perform the calculations required for the MEP systems.
Maintain drawing logs and documentation for revisions and approvals.
Coordinate with other discipline draftsmen to avoid clashes.
Perform site visits to gather necessary data and verify installations when required.
Assist in the preparation of As-Built drawings at project completion.
Requirements:
Diploma or ITI in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or related field.
7+ years of experience in MEP drafting in construction projects.
Proficient in AutoCAD; knowledge of Revit MEP and Navisworks is a plus.
Strong understanding of MEP systems, layouts, and coordination.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Good communication skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and in a team under tight deadlines.
Preferred Skills:
Experience working on residential, commercial, or industrial projects in [specify region, e.g., UAE/GCC].
Familiarity with international and local building codes (ASHRAE, DEWA, ADDC, etc.).
Basic knowledge of BIM workflows and clash detection.
