What’s the job?
Under the general direction of the Engineering Supervisor and/or Shift Leader, and within the limits of established hotel’s policies and procedures, ensures that all the Engineering & Maintenance issues are in line and preventive maintenance is performed in order for the Hotels equipment to be operated with maximum efficiency to achieve guest satisfaction.
A little taste of your day-to-day:
- Applies Trade Expertise of Painting/polishing with professionalism
- Maintains the hotel in his qualified trade to the desired standard
- Daily inspection and rectification of all public areas in relation to his trade
- Completes work orders as requested by the Engineering Supervisor in relation to his trade and other directives to meet customer requirements
- Initiates/identifies project work required in light of his trade throughout the hotel
- Is able to show flexibility to change the schedule in light of guest priorities
- General building minor maintenance repairs
- Carries out any minor repairs to guest rooms or public areas
- Performs all routine preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance
- Maintains clean and tidy plant rooms
- Maintains a level of broader knowledge which enables him to handle minor problems in all fields of the department
- Attend to all types of repair and maintenance work in the Hotel premises, including any new additions / extensions to the Hotel or any other properties maintained by the Hotel
- Repair and maintain guest room facilities, light facilities, furniture and equipment
- Assist with the implementation of the hotel’s preventive maintenance system and repair log system
- Prioritize work in line with guest requests and management priorities
- Inform superior of the status of repairs and pending costs and indicate when it would be reasonable to consider replacement
- Record daily service work, including maintaining individual replacement costs along with time
What we need from you
To execute the position of Painter, the candidate must meet the legal requirements to work in the UAE. Ideally, the candidate must have the required qualifications, technical skills and experience in a similar role in hotels with proven results and includes the following:
- Some college or advanced vocational training
- Four years’ experience in general building maintenance and/or construction or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Specialised expertise in plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and carpentry fields
- Level 3 EPA Certification, HVAC and refrigeration certificate, licensed plumber and/or journeyman status for electrician and carpenter may be required
- Hotel experience preferred
- Professional certification and licence if required by law
The candidate will have the ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with guests, management and co-workers to their understanding. They must have the ability to work collaboratively in a team; strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and effective time management. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize workload; High grooming standards – wear your uniform with pride and adhere to personal grooming and hygiene standards; and flexibility to work a 6 day rotating roster – overnight, weekend and public holiday shifts are all part of the job.
