Overview:
The Platform Analytics Specialist is responsible for managing the operational lifecycle of web and app tracking, tag management system (TMS) operations, attribution frameworks, and A/B testing analytics infrastructure. This role works closely with Product, Marketing, Engineering, and Analytics teams to ensure accurate and consistent data collection, robust tracking implementations, and clean experimentation data, all while ensuring adherence to data governance and user consent compliance standards.
This position centers on platform and product analytics tracking, handling the technical and operational aspects of tagging primarily for product & Marketing usage, experimentation, and analytics platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
Tag Management System (TMS) Operations
- Manage configuration and maintenance of Tag Management Systems (e.g., Google Tag Manager, Tealium) for product and analytics-related tags.
- Coordinate tag deployment related to product event tracking, analytics platforms (GA4, Amplitude, Mixpanel), and experimentation tools.
- Collaborate with developers and product teams to expose necessary data elements and ensure tag data integrity.
- Monitor TMS performance and troubleshoot tag firing issues or data discrepancies.
- Ensure all tags comply with internal policies and external regulations on data privacy.
Data Governance & Consent Compliance
- Partner with Legal, Privacy, and Compliance teams to enforce data governance policies related to analytics data collection and processing.
- Ensure tracking implementations respect user consent frameworks (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, ePrivacy) and consent management platforms (CMPs).
- Monitor and audit tracking setups regularly to prevent unauthorized data capture or privacy violations.
- Document compliance procedures and provide training or support to relevant stakeholders.
Web & App Tracking Operations
- Oversee implementation and QA of tracking events across web and mobile applications.
- Translate product analytics requirements into detailed event specs and documentation.
- Partner with engineering teams to verify instrumentation accuracy and completeness.
Attribution Framework Support
- Support operational management and quality assurance of product and user journey attribution models.
- Collaborate on refining attribution strategies that reflect multi-touch product engagement.
A/B Testing & Experimentation Analytics
- Manage analytics infrastructure supporting experimentation platforms.
- Ensure data quality and tracking integrity for A/B tests and feature rollouts.
- Assist with dashboards and reports reflecting experiment outcomes.
Cross-functional Collaboration & Documentation
- Serve as the operational analytics liaison between Product, Marketing, Engineering, Legal, and Data teams.
- Document tagging standards, tracking taxonomies, instrumentation processes, and compliance guidelines.
- Promote adherence to data governance and privacy policies across teams.
Minimum Requirements:
- 5+ years experience with product analytics tracking and operations.
- Hands-on experience managing Tag Management Systems (e.g., GTM, Tealium) focused on product and analytics tags.
- Proficiency with analytics platforms such as GA4, Amplitude, Mixpanel, or Heap.
- Understanding of attribution modeling and A/B testing analytics.
- Experience writing tracking specs and coordinating with development teams.
- Familiarity with web and app tracking architectures and debugging instrumentation issues.
- Solid understanding of data privacy regulations and consent frameworks (GDPR, CCPA).
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of analytics SDKs and customer data platforms (Tealium, Segment, mParticle, Hightouch).
- SQL skills for data validation and analysis.
- Experience supporting compliance audits and privacy-driven data governance.
- Experience supporting large-scale experimentation programs.
