Job description:
A plumber cum driver is a skilled tradesperson who installs, maintains, and repairs piping systems that carry water, gas, and waste in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. Plumbers ensure that water systems are functioning properly, addressing issues such as leaks, blockages, and system failures, while ensuring compliance with safety codes and regulations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Dubai Driving License
- Install and repair water, gas, and sewage piping systems, as well as fixtures like sinks, bathtubs, showers, toilets, dishwashers, and water heaters.
- Install water supply systems, including connecting pipes, water meters, pumps, and tanks.
- Install and maintain gas lines for residential, commercial, or industrial use, ensuring all connections are secure and meet safety standards.
- Set up drainage systems for wastewater removal, including sewer lines, stormwater drains, and sump pumps.
- Detect and repair leaks in pipes and plumbing fixtures.
- Unclog drains, toilets, and sewer lines using manual or powered tools like augers or hydro-jetting equipment.
- Replace or repair damaged pipes, including copper, PVC, and galvanized steel pipes.
- Troubleshoot and repair or replace water heaters, ensuring hot water is available throughout the property.
- Identify and diagnose plumbing issues such as leaks, poor water pressure, and faulty drainage systems.
- Use diagnostic tools like pressure gauges, pipe cameras, and leak detectors to find hidden or hard-to-reach problems.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance on plumbing systems to ensure everything is operating efficiently and in compliance with codes.
- Clean and maintain water filtration systems, backflow prevention devices, and sump pumps to ensure they are functioning properly.
- Upgrade older plumbing systems to modern standards, replacing outdated pipes, fixtures, and water heaters with energy-efficient models.
- Install water-saving devices, such as low-flow faucets, showerheads, and energy-efficient appliances, to improve efficiency.
- Follow health and safety regulations to prevent contamination, ensure proper ventilation in gas systems, and reduce the risk of plumbing-related accidents.
- Communicate with customers to understand their plumbing issues and offer solutions.
- Provide cost estimates and timelines for jobs, ensuring transparency.
- Offer advice on plumbing maintenance and water-saving techniques to customers.
- Respond to emergency plumbing issues, such as burst pipes, severe leaks, or flooding, to minimize water damage and restore proper function.
- Offer emergency repair services outside of regular hours, especially in critical situations.
- Work with other tradespeople, such as electricians, general contractors, and HVAC technicians, during construction or remodeling projects.
- Coordinate plumbing work with building inspectors to ensure systems pass safety inspections.
- Clean up work areas after completing plumbing projects, ensuring that no debris, tools, or materials are left behind.
- Ensure that all plumbing systems are tested for leaks, pressure, and functionality before leaving the site.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- A deep understanding of plumbing systems, including water supply, drainage, and venting systems, as well as specialized knowledge of plumbing fixtures and appliances.
- Ability to quickly diagnose problems and determine the best course of action to repair or replace plumbing components.
- Skilled use of hand tools, power tools, and plumbing-specific equipment such as pipe benders, wrenches, and pipe cutters.
- Ensuring all installations and repairs meet industry standards, safety codes, and customer requirements.
- Ability to interact effectively with clients to explain issues and solutions and provide excellent customer service.
- The ability to manage multiple jobs, prioritize tasks, and complete work on schedule.
- Having a 3-5 years Experience as a plumber in Dubai.
Certification:
- In addition to a license, plumbers may choose to pursue additional certifications for specialized work (e.g., gas line installation, backflow prevention, or green plumbing).
Other Work Duties:
- Plumbers may work indoors or outdoors, in homes, offices, factories, and construction sites.
- The job can involve working in confined spaces, under sinks, or in crawl spaces and attics.
- Plumbing work can sometimes be physically demanding, requiring lifting, bending, or working in awkward positions.
- Plumbers often work outside of regular hours, particularly in emergency situations.
