Job Purpose:
The Procurement Officer is responsible for sourcing and procuring materials, equipment, and services in a timely, cost-effective manner while maintaining quality standards. The role requires strong supplier management and negotiation skills and an understanding of technical specifications—preferably in an engineering or industrial setting.
Job description:
- Generate and manage purchase orders accurately and timely.
- Ensure purchase orders include correct specifications, quantities, and pricing.
- Track and expedite orders to ensure on-time delivery.
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers and vendors.
- Obtain competitive quotes, negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to optimize procurement outcomes.
- Monitor and manage inventory levels to meet operational needs.
- Coordinate with warehouse and inventory teams for efficient stock management.
- Conduct periodic inventory audits and reconcile discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and deliveries.
- Prepare and analyze reports on purchasing activities, costs, and savings.
- Assist in budgeting and forecasting related to procurement activities.
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to understand purchasing requirements.
- Coordinate purchasing activities with other departments to support organizational goals.
- Provide timely and responsive customer service to internal teams and external vendors.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Purchase Assistant or similar role.
- Knowledge of procurement/sales processes and procedures.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask.
- Proficient in MS Office and ERP systems.
