Job Summary:
The Automotive Service Quality Inspector is responsible for inspecting completed vehicle repairs and maintenance services to ensure they meet established quality standards. This role acts as the final checkpoint before vehicles are returned to customers, verifying that all work was performed correctly, safely, and to customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct post-repair inspections on vehicles to verify repair accuracy and quality.
- Ensure all repairs meet manufacturer specifications and internal quality guidelines.
- Check for cleanliness, proper fluid levels, correct torque on fasteners, and overall workmanship.
- Identify any incomplete or unsatisfactory work and coordinate corrections with technicians.
- Document inspection results and report recurring quality issues to management.
- Assist in root cause analysis for repeat repairs or quality concerns.
- Monitor compliance with safety procedures and service protocols.
- Provide feedback and training support to technicians for continuous improvement.
- Support customer satisfaction initiatives by ensuring vehicles are returned in top condition.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- ASE certifications or relevant technical training (preferred)
- 3+ years of experience in automotive service, repair, or inspection
- Strong mechanical knowledge and understanding of automotive systems
- Keen attention to detail and high standards for workmanship
- Ability to use diagnostic tools and service software
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and inspect vehicles for extended periods
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Comfortable working in a shop environment with exposure to noise and tools
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with dealership or OEM quality standards
- Knowledge of lean practices or continuous improvement methods
- Familiarity with inspection checklists and quality audit processes
