Job Summary
The Safety Officer will be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and ensuring compliance with all health, safety, and environmental standards on company projects. The candidate must meet the requirements for safety officers in Dubai, holding the necessary certifications and demonstrating in-depth knowledge of local safety regulations, risk management, and best practices in occupational health and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and enforce company and project-specific HSE policies and procedures.
- Conduct site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with Dubai Municipality, Civil Defense, and other regulatory standards.
- Ensure all workers and subcontractors follow approved safety practices, using proper PPE and safe methods of work.
- Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, near misses, inspections, and corrective actions.
- Deliver toolbox talks, safety inductions, and training sessions for employees and subcontractors.
- Assist in preparing and updating risk assessments, method statements, and emergency response plans.
- Investigate accidents and incidents, prepare reports, and recommend preventive measures.
- Liaise with Dubai authorities and regulatory agencies for safety compliance, inspections, and approvals.
- Promote a culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement across project teams.
- Perform other HSE duties as assigned by management.
Role Criteria
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or equivalent.
Certifications (Mandatory as per Dubai requirements):
- NEBOSH IGC (International General Certificate) or equivalent.
- OSHA certification (Occupational Safety & Health Administration) preferred.
- Dubai Municipality-approved Safety Officer Certification (mandatory for site approval).
- First Aid & Fire Fighting certification (preferred).
Experience Required:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in HSE roles, with at least 3 years in the UAE.
- Experience in road, infrastructure, or construction projects in Dubai.
Additional Skills Required:
- Strong knowledge of UAE HSE legislation and Dubai Municipality regulations.
- Ability to conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
- Excellent communication and reporting skills in English (Arabic is an advantage).
- Strong leadership and ability to influence safe practices among workers.
