Job Summary:
We are seeking a knowledgeable and passionate Strength and Conditioning Coach with experience in training competitive swimmers. The coach will design and implement dryland training programs tailored to enhance swimming performance, prevent injuries, and support overall athletic development. This role requires close collaboration with swim coaches and medical staff to align training with the demands of the sport and individual athlete goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and oversee sport-specific strength and conditioning programs for swimmers across all age groups and competitive levels.
- Focus on improving swimming-specific performance factors such as power, core stability, flexibility, mobility, and anaerobic/aerobic conditioning.
- Conduct regular athlete assessments, movement screens, and performance testing to monitor progress and adapt programs.
- Integrate injury prevention, recovery, and mobility strategies aligned with swim training cycles.
- Collaborate closely with swim coaching staff to align dryland training with in-water practices and seasonal competition schedules.
- Educate swimmers on proper technique, training habits, nutrition, and recovery principles.
- Supervise all dryland sessions to ensure safety, engagement, and effectiveness.
- Maintain records of athlete participation, progress, and any injury concerns.
- Contribute to a positive, supportive, and high-performance training environment.
Requirements:
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with competitive athletes, preferably swimmers.
- Strong understanding of biomechanics, functional training, and periodization specific to swimming.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire young athletes in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience designing dryland or strength programs for swim teams.
- Familiarity with swimming-specific needs such as shoulder injury prevention, core strength, and explosive starts/turns.
- Knowledge of athlete management and performance tracking tools (e.g., TeamBuildr, BridgeAthletic).
- Experience working in club, collegiate, or high-performance swim programs.
