Role Purpose:
The Systems Engineer – Electro-Optic & Imaging Systems will lead the end-to-end development and integration of advanced electro-optic sensor systems, from architecture design through system validation.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement systems engineering processes for electro-optic and imaging systems, including requirements definition, system design, implementation, and verification.
- Develop system architectures by translating user needs into functional designs for sensor systems, optical assemblies, and image processing components.
- Create detailed specifications, including System and Subsystem Specifications (SSS), Hardware Requirements Specifications (HRS), and Software Requirements Specifications (SRS).
- Support system verification and validation through the documentation of test results and compliance reports related to optical performance and sensor accuracy.
- Lead or contribute to cross-functional teams across optics, electronics, software, and mechanical engineering, addressing performance trade-offs and integration challenges.
- Participate in Design Reviews (SRR, SDR, PDR, CDR) and Test Readiness Reviews (TRR), ensuring adherence to established engineering processes and checklists.
- Compile and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including Concepts of Operation (CONOPS), Systems Engineering Management Plans (SEMP), and Test & Evaluation Plans.
- Conduct market research to assess the electro-optics landscape, analyze emerging technologies, and identify competitive products.
- Manage technical processes including risk management, configuration control, and design decision-making.
- Prepare and present technical papers, proposals, and reports to internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide mentorship, technical guidance, and task delegation to junior engineers or team members as appropriate.
Education & Experience
- Master’s degree in Engineering or a relevant discipline related to Electro-Optics or Imaging Systems.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in system engineering, with proven experience in electro-optical systems design, imaging sensors, and system integration for optronic applications.
- Hands-on experience in creating systems specifications, managing development cycles, and validating optical performance.
- Exposure to system lifecycle methodologies, such as the V-model or Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
Key Skills
- Strong understanding of systems engineering processes and lifecycle management.
- Technical expertise in imaging technologies, sensor systems, optical assemblies, and performance modeling.
- Familiarity with system validation, optical testing procedures, and imaging calibration techniques.
- Experience with MBSE methodologies and tools (e.g., SysML)
- Proficiency in requirement management tools such as IBM DOORS
- INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional (SEP) certification or equivalent.
