The Role
We are looking for a highly experienced Systems Engineer – Stability and Control to join our Engineering team at ADASI. In this role, you will be responsible for the analysis, modeling, simulation, and verification of flight stability and control systems for our next-generation UAV platforms. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring safe, stable, and agile flight behavior across all mission profiles, from launch to recovery. Your work will directly influence flight control strategies, vehicle handling qualities, and overall system performance in a defense and aerospace environment.
Key Responsibilities

Conduct longitudinal and lateral-directional stability analyses for UAV platforms

Define control surface sizing, actuator capabilities, and trim conditions

Develop and maintain 6-DOF flight dynamics models in MATLAB/Simulink or equivalent
-
Design, tune, and validate autopilot control laws (PID, LQR, gain-scheduled controllers)

Integrate aerodynamic and mass property data into high-fidelity simulations
-
Plan and execute V&V strategies using simulation, HIL, and flight testing
-
Analyze flight test data to evaluate control performance and stability margins

Support wind tunnel, ground, and flight testing campaigns
-
Collaborate with cross-functional teams in aerodynamics, avionics, software, and systems integration

Contribute to safety assessments, certification reports, and compliance with airworthiness standards
Required Qualifications

Education:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Control Systems, or related field (required)

Master’s degree in Flight Dynamics or Control Engineering (preferred)

Experience:
-
Minimum 10+ years in aerospace or defense industry
-
At least 5 years of hands-on experience in flight stability and control of UAVs or aircraft

Certifications (preferred):

INCOSE ASEP/CSEP

Certification in flight dynamics or control simulation tools

Awareness of AS9100D or ISO 9001 systems

Technical Tools

Modeling and simulation: MATLAB/Simulink, X-Plane, FlightGear

Stability analysis tools: AVL, XFOIL, Athena Vortex Lattice

Control system design: Classical and modern methods (PID, LQR, etc.)

Integration of CFD and mass property data

Airworthiness and stability standards: MIL-F-8785C, MIL-HDBK-1797, CS-UAS, DO-178C
