Job Summary:
An Auto Painter is responsible for preparing and painting vehicles to restore or enhance their appearance. This role involves surface preparation, color matching, paint mixing, and applying paint coatings using spray guns or brushes to achieve a smooth, durable, and high-quality finish that meets manufacturer standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare vehicle surfaces by sanding, masking, and cleaning to ensure proper paint adhesion.
- Mix and match paints to achieve accurate color matching and desired finishes.
- Apply primers, basecoats, and clearcoats using spray guns or brushes.
- Inspect painted surfaces for defects such as runs, sags, or uneven coverage and perform touch-ups as needed.
- Maintain and clean painting equipment and work areas to ensure safety and efficiency.
- Follow safety protocols for handling paints, solvents, and hazardous materials.
- Collaborate with other technicians to ensure seamless repair and finishing processes.
- Complete necessary paperwork related to paint jobs and repairs.
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in automotive painting or spray painting preferred.
- Knowledge of paint mixing, color matching, and application techniques.
- Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
- Ability to work standing for long periods and handle physical tasks.
- Familiarity with safety equipment such as respirators and protective clothing.
