The role?
To conduct planned/corrective/project maintenance on offshore pedestal cranes under the direct supervision of the crane supervisor.
Main Responsibilities & Key Result Areas
- Effectively manage the coordination and implementation of all offshore cranes planned and corrective maintenance. This will include daily, weekly, monthly, 3-monthly, 12-monthly, 24-monthly, 48, and 60 monthly routines.
- As a Stage 3 Crane Operator, assist with Deck and Vessel lifts as required by the client.
- The Crane Mechanic will also undertake other works at the discretion of the Client on equipment unrelated to cranes deemed to be within their competence and fulfil such emergency duties as required by the Client.
- Preparation of cranes for inspection or survey by a third party, ensuring the validity of all relevant certifications. Take full responsibility for ensuring all crane certifications are valid, including 3rd Party thorough inspection SWL and PLT).
- Daily reporting will be in the form of a written log detailing work carried out, spares ordered and consumed, general condition, status, etc.
- Assist Crane Supervisor with the detailed CCE inspections every 12 months, including hydraulic hose survey condition. This will include photographs and dropped object surveys. Records to be maintained and shared with the client.
- Assist the Crane supervisor with the reduction of the crane maintenance backlog.
- Provide accurate identification of all components, report on the condition, and provide sufficient information to order the correct spare parts.
- Ensure constant improvement of safety, performance, and quality standards.
- Ensure all ongoing work is correctly risk assessed and identify/action new assessments.
Requirements
- Mechanical diploma or equivalent (SVQ, City & guilds etc.)
- 3 years in a lifting equipment environment.
- Experience in repair & maintenance of crane-related equipment
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in mechanical operations or maintenance, preferably in the oil and gas industry
Preferred
- Additional certifications i.e., BOSIET, crane operator stage 2 or 3, hydraulics level 1 or 2 an advantage.
- Experience in the offshore service industry or a similar environment
- Experience in cranes & lifting equipment maintenance & repair
