Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented CSI Specification Writer to prepare, review, and maintain technical specifications in accordance with CSI MasterFormat® standards. The ideal candidate will work closely with architects, engineers, and project managers to ensure documentation is accurate, coordinated, and compliant with industry codes and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and write project specifications based on architectural drawings and project requirements
- Utilize CSI MasterFormat®, SectionFormat™, and PageFormat™ for document consistency
- Coordinate with architects, consultants, and engineers to integrate technical data into specifications
- Maintain and update office master specs and templates
- Review and edit product data, materials, and finishes to meet project design intent and performance criteria
- Ensure specifications comply with applicable codes, regulations, and client standards
- Stay current on industry trends, new materials, and product innovations
- Participate in quality control reviews and project meetings as needed
Requirements:
- Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- 3 – 5 years of experience in specification writing within architecture, design, or construction
- Strong knowledge of CSI MasterFormat® and related documentation standards
- Proficiency in spec-writing software (e.g., Speclink, e-SPECS, MasterSpec, etc.)
- Familiarity with building codes (IBC, ADA, LEED, etc.)
- Excellent written communication and technical writing skills
- Strong attention to detail and organization
- CSI CDT, CCS, or SCIP certification preferred (or in progress)
