World Stage Design (WSD) 2025 is an international event dedicated to celebrating and showcasing the best in design for performance. As a global platform, WSD brings together designers, artists, educators, and industry professionals to exchange ideas, explore innovative approaches, and promote collaboration across disciplines. WSD 2025 aims to inspire creativity, foster connections, and shape the future of performance design.
Working Period:
September 1 to October 5 - 2 days/week

Overview:
The Front of House (FOH) Manager will be responsible for the smooth, safe, and welcoming operation of all public-facing aspects of World Stage Design 2025. This includes overseeing visitor experience, audience flow, FOH staff and volunteer coordinators and their volunteers across the Academy site activity.
Duties:
Audience Experience & Visitor Services
● Ensure a warm, informed, and inclusive welcome for all attendees, delegates, and participants.
● Coordinate information desks, ticketing points, and venue signage in conversation with the Exhibition Designer, Scenofest Producer and Project Leader.
● Manage queues, crowd control, and flow of visitors between events.
Team Management
● Work with the Local Volunteer Co-ordinator to support and coordinate the FoH Local Volunteers.
● Recruit and manage student employed ushers, to ensure all activities are covered and supported.
● Schedule and supervise shifts, ensuring full staffing coverage.
● Provide regular briefings and act as main point of contact during shifts.
Health & Safety
● Oversee the implementation of safety procedures and evacuation plans.
● Ensure compliance with venue regulations and licensing conditions in co-operation with SPAAs Facilities Manager.
● Respond to incidents and manage emergency protocols as needed.
Accessibility & Inclusivity
● Support the different needs of attendees and participants with different access needs.
Communication & Coordination
Liaise closely with production, technical, and programming teams to coordinate event timings and logistics

● Proven experience managing FOH operations for events, festivals, or cultural venues.
● Strong leadership and team management skills.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
● Calm under pressure, with the ability to resolve issues swiftly and diplomatically.
● Knowledge of health and safety protocols, including crowd management.
● Commitment to diversity, equality, and inclusive audience experiences.
Desirable:
● Experience working on international or multidisciplinary arts festivals.
Additional Information:
The Front of House Manager will work closely with the Project Director and Leader and other designated members of the event organising team.
This role may require flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, during the event period only.
